Mr. Deeb an experienced financier and investor, having built and operated a number of businesses since 1988. The Deeb family portfolio of businesses interests have included investments in the Financial Services, Shipping, Energy Exploration, Real Estate and Hospitality sectors. Through various subsidiaries, the Deeb group holds stakes in Bermuda based tanker group Nordic American Tankers Limited (NYSE/NAT), Athens, Greece based ICON Energy Corp (NASD/ICON) and Hospitality, Property and Casino group, Monte Carlo based Société des Bains de Mer (Euronext/BAIN).
Mr. Deeb currently serves as Chairman Emeritus of Hampton Securities Limited and as Executive Chairman & CEO of its publicly traded parent company, Hampton Financial Corporation (TSXV/HFC – Financial Services). He has previously served on the Board of Private Equity fund, Deutsche Bank Capital Investment Circle LLP, alongside a distinguished board which included Vice President Dan Quayle and Investors Arthur Laffer and Peter Tanous.
As well, he has also been actively involved in the Public Sector having been appointed by Premier Doug Ford as Chairman of Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation (OLG), and as a member of the Board of the PC Ontario Fund, where he served as Chairman of the Audit Committee. He has served as an advisor to Governments on Middle East Affairs and Energy Policy and has had a lengthy business involvement in the Energy Sector in Africa and Asia.
During his career in Finance, he has contributed considerable time and effort towards improving the regulatory environment of the investment industry in Canada. He had the honor of serving as Chairman of the Ontario District Counsel of The Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (CIRO), and as Chairman of IIROC’s National Advisory Committee where he worked with fellow board members to contribute to a proactive regulatory framework for Canadian investors and the hundreds of investment dealers and thousands of industry professionals that serve them.
He has enjoyed an active involvement in Canada’s arts community as a supporter and Board Member of the Canadian Opera Company, as past Chairman of Opera Mississauga and in support of the National Ballet of Canada, the Royal Ontario Museum and Opera Atelier.
